What’s your dream? Are you living it? All great leaders have a dream – but they also have a plan, self-discipline and other core skills to make that dream happen!

During this inspirational, educational and creative day, you will do 6 experiential activities (there are no lectures!) to help you create a plan for your dream.  In the morning you will clarify your dream and in the afternoon you will create an action plan to make your dream a reality by focusing on specific skills such as goal setting, time management, organization, decision-making and confidence. The practical self-leadership skills you will learn include:

How to clarify your dreams in 6 areas of your life (school / career, relationships, spiritual, financial, health & fitness & recreation)

How to set goals effectively towards reaching your dream & take initiative

How to carefully manage your time to protect your dream

How to get organized in all areas of your life (and why this affects motivation)

How to make wise decisions

How to improve your confidence

More specifically the 6 skills you will learn include:

Skill #1:

Vision Casting

Identify your vision for your life in 6 important areas: relationships, recreation, finance, career / school, health / fitness and spiritual. Brainstorm a list of career choices that reflect your passion, personality and skills.  Create a ‘Vision Board’ that practically represents your dream.

Skill #2:

Dream Setting

Learn how to set and write goals effectively - only 1 out of 10,000 people do this!

Skill #3:

Creative Time Managing

Design a strategic and creative plan to help you be the most efficient with your time so all of your dreams can be reached.

Skill #4:

The Art of Decision Making

Learn a simple technique for making wise decisions that will align with your dreams and values.

Skill #5:

The Power of EQ

Understand how leaders with high EQ (Emotional Intelligence) possess a powerful edge and why this is now equally as, if not more important than IQ in today’s culture and economy.

Skill #6:

The Confidence Factor

Understand the power of your ‘story’ – the archive of subliminal messages about yourself that repeatedly runs through your subconscious unknowingly. Understand how your ‘story’ directly influences your actions and how to “re-write your story”.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should come to this event?
Anyone who wants to learn how to fulfill their dreams in all areas of their life. Whether you are in grade 11 trying to learn how to be more motivated, in university trying to figure out the right career direction, a young professional trying to have a deeper relationship with your partner or a boomer unsure of what to do with the next chapter in your life – this event will bring incredible guidance and practical tools.

What is EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and why is it important for me in my development of leadership?
Research tells us that EQ is not only a better predictor than IQ of how happy and “successful” someone will be in their lifetime but also that many great leaders and top performers have high EQ. This is why it’s essential we teach these skills to our children and to ourselves. EQ encompasses a variety of areas including (but not exclusively):

Being self-aware regarding our passions / dreams

Taking initiative and being a self-starter

Setting goals, being self-disciplined and being efficient with time

Making wise strategic decisions

Learning how to communicate with others – motivating and inspiring them to develop their own leadership

Dealing with conflict effectively and creating great team synergy

Being confident

Understanding others, being empathetic, accepting differences and meeting the needs of others

Being self-aware regarding emotions (how they work and affect our performance and motivation)

The Dare to Dream events are geared to teach many EQ skills in a highly experiential and inspirational fashion!

Should I do the events alone or with friends?
Dr. Karyn recommends you do these events with at least 1 friend. This is not mandatory but encouraged simply because when we can learn with people from our support team we become more accountable to each other and we can cheer them on!

I think my friend would love this – but they are in a crisis. Would this be good for her?
These events are not designed for counselling but rather for leadership education. Therefore we do not encourage people to attend these events if they are currently in a crisis situation.

What age is most appropriate?
The Dare to Dream Pre-Teen / Teen Event is for young people from grades 8-12. The Dare to Dream Young Adult / Adult Event is for adults ages 19+. In our last event for adults we had several people in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and a couple in their 70’s.

What types of adults come to the Dare to Dream Adult Event?
The adult event is a beautiful mix of professional students, young professionals & boomers exploring what their dream is for the next chapter in their lives.

How will Dr. Karyn deal with both pre-teen & teens during the event as they are in very different life stages?
The Dare to Dream event is very hands-on and experiential which works ideally with all age groups. However, for specific exercises the group will be divided according to age so that she can tailor the material more specifically.

How many people are able to come?
Each event has been limited to only 25 people since we want it to be highly hands-on and intimate.

What is the style of the event? Will I find it fun & interesting?
Absolutely! Dr. Karyn’s events are highly creative, interactive, fun and practical. The mood is casual and relaxed.

I think my pre-teen / teen would enjoy this but I think they will be reluctant. Any suggestions to get them onboard?
Let them read this document which outlines what to expect as well as teen testimonials (see below). You can also print off Dr. Karyn’s biography which communicates her experience and passion working with young people. Be sure to emphasize that this is a highly creative event to help them achieve their dreams! Finally encourage them to bring a friend which makes it not only empowering and interesting, but also a meaningful social experience.

I’m thinking of sending my teen to the teen event and signing myself up for the adult event so I can also learn what my teen learned. Would this be beneficial?
Absolutely! In fact, when Dr. Karyn first designed the Dare to Dream event for teens, she had so many parents inquiring whether they could attend that she created the Dare to Dream event for adults so that they could learn the same leadership skills their teens were learning!

Can I purchase my tickets at the door?
No - all registration must be done in advance. And we anticipate selling out quickly as we did for the last few events.

How do I order my tickets?

I’d love to participate in the Dare to Dream event but I have some financial obstacles (i.e.  I’ve lost my job etc). Do you have any scholarship programs?

I have some more questions, who should I email for more information?
