Specifically you will learn the following skills: Part 1: Dream Your Destiny
|

Brainstorm a list of career choices that reflect your passion, personality and skills.

|
Part 2: Catapult Your Confidence

Skill #5: |
The Power of EQ |
| |
Understand how leaders with high EQ (Emotional Intelligence) possess a powerful edge and why this is now equally as, if not more important than IQ in today’s culture and economy. Understand the difference between reality and perception and why this is essential in effective leadership. Learn how your attitudes impact your emotions and actions, and what you can do about it! |
Skill #6: |
The Confidence Factor |
| |
Understand the power of your ‘story’ – the archive of subliminal messages about yourself that repeatedly runs through your subconscious unknowingly. Understand how your ‘story’ directly influences your self image. Learn powerful ways to re-write your ‘story’ to create a more positive influence on your confidence level and destiny. |
For the Pre-Teen / Teen Event Only
For the pre-teen / teen event only, we encourage them to invite 1 parent (or adult, relative, mentor whom they trust) that they would like to join them at the end of the day (4:30-5:30pm). This is an exciting opportunity for pre-teen / teens to be the ‘teachers’ and teach their parent what they have learned. This does 3 important things:
|
o |
Provides a great opportunity for pre-teen / teens to teach the material (which helps to solidify what they learned) |
o |
Provides a great opportunity for pre-teen / teens to voice what they need from their parents to help them be successful with their action steps |
o |
Provides an opportunity if parents or pre-teen / teens have further questions for Dr. Karyn |

What is Emotional Intelligence and why is it important for me in my development of leadership?
Research tells us that EQ (Emotional Intelligence) is actually a better predicator than IQ of how happy and “successful” someone will be (especially in our current economy) in their lifetime. EQ includes a variety of areas including (but not exclusively):
|
o |
How self-aware one is of their passions / dreams, emotions, strengths & weaknesses – how confident one is |
o |
How well one can manage their emotions, take initiative towards their dream, be disciplined and creative |
o |
How well one can understand others – their ability to be empathic, accept differences and meet the needs of others |
o |
How well one can communicate with others – motivate and inspire them to develop their own leadership; how to deal with conflict effectively and create great team synergy |
Should I do the events alone or with friends?
Dr. Karyn definitely recommends you do these events with at least 1 friend. This is not mandatory but highly encouraged simply because if we can learn with people from our support team, it allows us to grow together, be more accountable, learn how to support each other and cheer each other on towards our dream.
I think my friend would love this – but he / she is in a crisis. Would this be good for her?
These events are not counselling but rather leadership education. Therefore we do not encourage people to attend these events if they are currently in a crisis situation.
What age is most appropriate?
The Dare to Dream Pre-Teen / Teen Event is for young people from grades 7-12. The Dare to Dream Young Adult / Adult Event is for adults ages 19 - 90.
What types of adults come to the Dare to Dream Adult Event?
The adult event is a beautiful mix of professional students, young professionals & boomers exploring what their dream is for the next chapter in their lives.
How will Dr. Karyn deal with both pre-teen & teens during the event as they are in very different life stages?
The Dare to Dream Event is very hands-on and experiential which works ideally with all age groups. However for specific exercises she will divide the class into different groups according to age so that she can tailor the material more specifically.
How many people are able to come?
Unlike her Lifeboat event which is more than 100 people, Dare to Dream is more of a classroom size, intended to be more intimate.
What is the style of the event? Will I find it fun & interesting?
Dr. Karyn’s style for events is always highly creative, interactive, fun and practical. The mood is casual, relaxed and Dr. Karyn’s DJ will be spinning the tunes throughout the day.
I think my pre-teen / teen would love this but I think they will be reluctant. Any suggestions for helping my pre-teen / teen get on board?
Let them read through what the event covers (above), print off Dr. Karyn’s biography communicating that she has extensive experience and passion working with young people. Be sure to emphasize that this is a highly creative event that will help them achieve their dreams for their life. And finally as mentioned earlier – we highly recommend that pre-teen / teens do this event with their friends, which makes it not only empowering and interesting, but also a meaningful social experience.
Can I purchase my tickets at the door?
No - all registration must be done in advance.
I can’t make the next event. When will the next DARE TO DREAM event be?
Dates have not been confirmed - but the next events will likely be in February 2010. Be sure to sign up for Dr. Karyn’s newsletter so that you are notified about the next event.
